RHYTMECALITY: percussion instruments in crimson and gold

Music is The Soul of Dancing.

RHYTMECALITY is one of the longest-running bodies of work in my career.

For more than 25 years, I have studied the relationship between rhythm, musical structure and dance.

The concept began with a simple personal need: as a dancer, I wanted to understand the music more deeply.

Over time, that interest developed into books, teaching material and a methodology for helping dancers, teachers and coaches understand rhythm in a more structured way.

Music remains an essential part of the way I teach today.

I often use music as the starting point for explaining movement because it allows dancers to experience ideas rather than only analyze them.

Music and movement

Music is not background.

Music has always had a special meaning for me in competitive dance.

As a dancer, I wanted to understand it more deeply. Latin American music in particular became an important source of inspiration for me, and over time I began using music as a starting point for explaining movement.

RHYTMECALITY grew from that work.

It is my way of helping dancers, teachers and coaches understand rhythm, structure and musical form so that movement grows from the music rather than being placed on top of it.

Even after more than 25 years, this remains part of almost every lesson I teach.
